Professional RAID Data Recovery Services For Apple Xserve Systems
Apple Xserve systems use many different RAID levels - and at R3, we offer various services for each configuration.
The most popular Apple Xserve configuration is the standard stripe set that has parity - the RAID 5. The default stripe size for RAIDs is 64k, which makes for 128 sectors. In such sets, the data is striped across each disk, and a parity block which rotates between the drives. This particular parity block utilizes a XOR algorithm.
In a RAID 5 system, if a disk happens to fail, the RAID controller card defaults to degraded mode, allowing the server to carry on operating with no interruption. Data recovery might be necessary in case there's corruption within essential parity blocks, or if a second drive happens to fails the array is operated in that state. Additional data loss may happen in case of RAID controller card failures, failed firmware upgrades, or natural disasters.
Xserve supports other hardware RAID levels - namely levels 0, 1, 3 and 0+1. Other levels, such as 10, 30 and 50 can be chosen too, but these need to be supported through the use of host-based software RAID. Our engineers are skilled in dealing with all sorts of configurations, including options that the Xserve hardware does not support - and our laboratories are completely equipped to perform Xserve data recovery.
If you're struggling with recovering key files from your Apple Xserve, give us a call at 0800 999 3282 to discuss your options.
In order to keep downtime as low as possible, we'll work with your IT staff in order to create an appropriate reintegration and recovery plan. In certain circumstances, this may include remote data recovery or on-site recovery right at your location. We're aware of the fact that Xserve systems are critical for the operation of your business, and our experience with Xserve systems allows for a 95 percent RAID recovery success rate, which will depend on RAID level, scenario and other factors.
At R3, we operate fully equipped laboratories - unlike many competitors which receive the media and outsource it to a different facility. We have locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, allowing us to quickly get access to your RAID media and start work as soon as possible. We create full clones of each drive before performing data recovery, and our specialists are able to create software on-the-fly in order to address the specific needs of your server.

I have witnessed R3 giving help over the phone to several people with their situations. Talking them through their data storage and recovery problems and spending many minutes attempting to fix potential clients problems over the phone without even charging for their time!
Even then, when it is not possible to fix it with general help via the phone they will then talk potential customers though the possible costs, procedures and outcomes with a best scenario and a worst scenario and several other possibilities too.
I don’t know of any other service that are as helpful and supportive of a clients needs - before they even have the caller as a client!
Beware of other poor substitutes, these guys are the best!
