Unencrypt Western Digital My Passport Drives
Unlocking/Decrypting Your Drive
- First, connect your drive to your computer or laptop using the USB port
- Once connected, open File Explorer and go to This PC / My PC to open the WD Unlocker.
- Using the password provided (which has been emailed to you from customerservices@r3datarecovery.com) enter into the box and click unlock.
- Once unlocked, you will see “My Passport” in your available devices, click it and you will find your data inside within a folder with your Job Reference Number.
Removing or Changing Your Drive Password
- To change or remove your password, once the drive is unlocked – open the WD Security Application which will open in a new window.
- You will then see two different options, one to remove and one to change the password.
- To remove, type in the original password and click “Update Security Settings”.
- You can change the password by typing in the original password and checking the box “change password”. You will be prompted to type a new password, verify it and write a password hint.
- NOTE: If you change the password please create multiple copies of it safely as without it your data is inaccessible and unrecoverable.
